Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: ARRIVAL IN SHIMLA — ENTERING THE HIMALAYAN CAPITAL
Morning: 🚗 Arrive at Chandigarh/Kalka and begin the scenic road journey towards Shimla. The drive gradually changes from the plains to winding Himalayan roads, pine and deodar forests and panoramic mountain scenery.
🌄 Keep the first day deliberately relaxed. Instead of immediately filling the schedule with sightseeing, use the drive as part of the experience itself. Stop at a safe viewpoint for photographs and refreshments. 🏨 On arrival in Shimla, check into your hotel and enjoy some time to settle in.
Afternoon: 🍽️ Have lunch at the hotel or a local restaurant before taking a gentle walk around the nearby area.
☕ If energy permits, visit a scenic café and enjoy your first cup of Himachali tea or coffee while taking in the mountain atmosphere.
🌲 The objective today is not to "complete Shimla" but to slow down and settle into the Himalayan rhythm.
Evening: 🚶 Head towards The Ridge and Mall Road in the evening.
⛪ Admire Christ Church as the surrounding streets begin to light up.
🛍️ Continue towards Lakkar Bazaar, where you can browse wooden handicrafts, woollens and small souvenirs.
📸 Evening is particularly enjoyable here because the streets become lively without requiring a demanding sightseeing schedule.
Night: 🍲 Return to the hotel or choose a cosy local restaurant for dinner.
🔥 If your hotel has a lounge/fireplace area, spend the evening relaxing rather than adding another attraction.
Day 2: SHIMLA HERITAGE — HISTORY, TEMPLES & HIMALAYAN VIEWS
Morning: 🌅 Begin after breakfast with a visit to Jakhoo Temple.
🛕 Surrounded by tall deodar trees, the temple provides a combination of spirituality and mountain scenery.
🚶 Explore at a comfortable pace and be cautious around the resident monkeys.
📸 The forested setting makes this one of the more atmospheric experiences in Shimla.
Afternoon: 🏛️ Continue towards the Viceregal Lodge / Indian Institute of Advanced Study.
🌿 Walk through the surrounding gardens and learn about Shimla's colonial history.
🍽️ Stop for lunch at a local restaurant.
🏛️ If you enjoy history, consider adding the Army Heritage Museum at Annandale, which combines military heritage with a peaceful deodar-filled setting.
Evening: 🚶 Return towards the central Shimla area.
⛪ Walk around The Ridge, Gaiety Theatre and historic buildings.
☕ Take a café break and simply watch the city move around you.
Night: 🍲 Enjoy a Himachali-inspired dinner.
🌙 Return to your hotel early enough to rest for the next day's countryside experience.
Day 3: MASHOBRA — FORESTS, ORCHARDS & SLOW HIMALAYAN LIVING
Morning: 🚗 After breakfast, check out and drive towards Mashobra, approximately 12 km from Shimla according to Himachal Tourism.

🏨 Check into your Mashobra accommodation.
Afternoon: 🍽️ Enjoy lunch at the property.
🌿 Spend the afternoon exploring the surrounding forest roads and countryside.

Day 5: HATU PEAK — TEMPLE, FOREST & PANORAMIC HIMALAYAS
Morning: 🚗 Drive towards Hatu Peak, or choose the forest trek if weather, fitness and trail conditions permit.

Afternoon: 🛕 Visit Hatu Temple, known for its traditional wooden craftsmanship.
📸 Spend time photographing the surrounding Himalayan landscape.
🌲 If conditions permit, explore the nearby forest area and alpine meadow surroundings.
🍽️ Return towards Narkanda for lunch.
