Day 1 — First Impressions, Golden Streets & Moscow Magic
Landing in Moscow feels oddly dramatic from the very beginning. Wide roads. Monumental buildings. Elegant facades. A city that somehow looks both royal and intimidating. After settling into the hotel, we headed straight into central Moscow — because resting after a flight is apparently for emotionally balanced people.
STREET OF LIGHTS, NIKOLSKAYA STREET
The first evening was spent around the beautifully lit shopping streets near Nikolskaya Street, one of Moscow’s most iconic pedestrian areas. The hanging golden lights visible in our photos transformed the street into something between a Christmas film and a luxury fashion advertisement.
The atmosphere was electric. Street performers, luxury storefronts, tourists taking endless selfies, and locals somehow walking with the confidence of people who’ve mastered winter survival.
As seen in the photos, the architecture around central Moscow carries this elegant European aesthetic — pastel buildings, historic facades, decorative lamp posts — but with a distinctly Russian grandeur. And then came the walking. A casual “short evening stroll” somehow became 16,000 steps. Because apparently every beautiful street in Europe comes with the unwritten rule that taxis are morally unacceptable.
For dinner, finding proper vegetarian food in Moscow required strategy. Russian cuisine is famously meat-heavy, but central Moscow surprisingly has excellent vegetarian-friendly cafés.

The moment we emerged from the underground passage and saw the Kremlin walls stretching across the horizon, Moscow finally felt real. The red fortifications, colourful domes, historic museums, military precision, and enormous open spaces create an atmosphere that feels both majestic and slightly intimidating.
As visible in our photos, the bright summer weather made the entire city glow. Moscow in summer has surprisingly pleasant weather — blue skies, long evenings, outdoor cafés, and people genuinely enjoying life before winter eventually returns to remind everyone who’s in charge.
We spent hours exploring:

One thing nobody prepares you for is the sheer scale of Moscow. Everything feels oversized. Roads are wider. Buildings are taller. Squares are larger. Your camera roll contains 900 nearly identical skyline photos. And somehow, despite being exhausted, you’re already mentally planning another trip. We spent our final hours revisiting favourite streets around central Moscow, shopping for souvenirs, enjoying one last café stop, and simply observing the rhythm of the city. Moscow slowly reveals itself the longer you stay. Initially, it feels grand and formal. Then suddenly you notice:

- Tiny cafés inside historic buildings
- Beautiful bookstores
- Stylish locals
- Quiet parks behind busy roads
- Unexpected warmth in conversations
The city feels intense at first, but deeply rewarding once you settle into its rhythm. And honestly, Moscow surprised us. Not just because of the landmarks — but because of how modern, artistic, clean, stylish, and emotionally layered the city feels.

Some metro stations genuinely look like royal ballrooms. Chandeliers, marble walls, mosaics, sculptures — public transport here has unnecessary levels of elegance.
